Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 August 2026
The Goliaths is built to collect as little about you as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to control or delete it. The App is operated by T.B.H..
1. The short version
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We never see or store your card details — billing is Apple's.
- We store only what's needed to sign you in and let you read.
- You can delete your account and everything we hold about you at any time.
2. What we collect
We collect only the following:
- Email address — from Apple when you sign in. Used to identify your account.
- Name (optional) — used only for a friendly greeting in the app.
- Age confirmation — the fact that you confirmed you are 18 or over, and the time you confirmed it. We do not collect a date of birth.
- Notification preference — whether you want push notifications, and (if you opt in) the device token needed to send them.
- Reading activity — that you opened the app, opened or finished a chapter, and entered a chapter password. This tells the author when readers are ready for the next chapter. We never log the passwords themselves.
- Unlocks — which chapters your account has unlocked, so your progress follows you to a new device.
3. How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your progress and unlocks on your account.
- To check your subscription entitlement (see "Third parties" below).
- To send push notifications about new chapters, if you opted in.
- To understand, in aggregate, how many people are reading and when they finish a chapter — never to profile you personally.
4. Legal basis
Under the UK GDPR, we process your data on the following bases:
- Performance of a contract — signing you in, saving unlocks, and managing your subscription are necessary to provide the App.
- Legitimate interests — the minimal, aggregate reading analytics described above, which we have balanced against your privacy.
- Consent — push notifications, which you can switch off at any time in your device settings.
5. Third parties we share data with
We share data only with the providers needed to run the App, and only for the purposes above:
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, and App Store billing.
- RevenueCat — checks your subscription status. It receives an account identifier and your purchase record, never your card details.
- Supabase — hosts our small account, unlock, and analytics database (stored in the EU).
We never sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
6. Content and AI
All writing in The Goliaths is written by a human — T.B.H. — not by AI. Images in the App are generated using AI and may differ from the text.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, unlocks, and reading events are permanently deleted. We may keep aggregate, anonymised statistics that cannot identify you.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- access, correct, or export the data we hold about you;
- object to or restrict processing;
- withdraw consent (e.g. for notifications) at any time;
- delete your account and all associated data.
To delete your account, open the App → Profile → Delete account. For any other request, email hello@thegoliaths.com. If you are in the UK you may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
9. Children
The App is for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and update the "Last updated" date above.
